Went for a ride with Justin today, he recently came home from Victoria for the holidays and dusted off his old Iron Horse Sunday for some dh action. We hit up the local corners for a bit and then went to the skatepark for a quick shred. To finish the day off we duck taped some lights to our heads and bikes and hit the drift track Dobie, Rob, Adam, and Kevin for some rowdy madness!

The Good Times

I was getting angry at the short, dark, wet days and looked through some old photos to cheer my self up and I came across some gems from years past on my beloved Devinci Frantik. I miss that thing. Here are a few pics from a trip we did down to Utah.

Then here are some shots from Bend, Oregon

Then here are a few random shots that I like from Post Canyon and one really old school one from Kamloops

Team Dunbar Drift Track

Went over to the local hill today after some precipitation made the grass nice and slippery and Aaron, Cameron, and Justin all killed it with some fun drift action.
I wasnt able to get many shots due to sporadic downpours but here is some of the action.

Ben's 2010 Season Recap!

2010 Has been the most fun season I have had to date. I got my riding back on track and rode some pretty awesome spots. The year started off with a sick roadtrip to California with Dobie, Graham and Jamie. Next up was racing time. I really think all my off season training regime paid off this year. I raced a couple of NW Cup races down in PA and then proceeded on to tear it up at BC Cup. This year I chose to race in the Senior men class which was hilarious. Ray Faubert, Graham Davey, and myself had a good time racing and enjoying the laid back approach to the fullest. Good times. I raced in the North Shore Smackdown DH, Aarduum, Bear Mtn, and then we were off to Panorama.
I raced in the Mad trapper DH and then the next race the following weekend. In between races we did a little road tripping around the Kootenays and Rocky Mountains which was pretty awesome. Then after that off to Whistler for Crankworx. Crankworx was pretty awesome I raced the AirDH which is my favorite race of the season and I was having so much fun doing whips I even risked it a bit and threw down a pretty awesome Nac-nac in my race run so that was all in all very thrilling for me. Next was the Canadian Open Dh which was sweet crazy course and it was kind of a chaotic practice sessions with short hours and hot shot pros flying around doing race laps. I had a good incident with some dude from Yeti flying in behind me when I was cruising the course getting a feel for things and I kinda blocked him a bit and he yelled away then proceeded to crash further down. Thats the good times of racing and we shared a laugh afterwards. Then we finished the season off with some rad times in Bromont.
Anyways thats my season and I had a lot of fun. Thanks to Rob and Dunbar Cycles for hooking me up and Len the mechanic. Then also to my parents for being awesome. Also everyone who I rode with it was sweet. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Cali road trip

Cali roadie 2010.
Riders: Ben, Dobie, Gee, Jam-o
A couple of the riders from the Dunbar crew and myself decided to continue on with our yearly tradition of heading down to california to get some riding in before the season. All I wanted to do while I was down there was train for the race season but the rest of the crew was down to throw down some freeriding so I was stoked. We hit up some sick trails in Pine Valley San Diego, Lake Elsinore, Santa Cruz and Falls City Oregon home of the infamous Blackrock bike park. Overall it was a sick trip and we are all stoked to get er done again next year. A few highlights of the trip were getting shot at by a gun as we were leaving the pine valley trails, gee breaking his leg and having a hot nurse, and Jamie driving on nothing but the metal rim for 20km then burning the midnight oil trying to get the darn wheel off.
Here are a few shots from the trip. I was disappointed not to get more filming and photos done but once the star of the show broke his leg we were all about just riding. Woo!
Big shout out to dobie for letting us use his tent trailor and ROB at for hookin us up with some Dunbar gear!

Winter Hucking

On a wet day, Dobes, Tom Kookamongo(sp?) and myself decided to go for a shred out at fabulous Burke Mountain in Coquitlam. We started er off riding some trails but it was pretty wet and sloppy so we decided to go check out a few of the local features. Dobes knew the way and lead us into the forest where we stumbled upon a step down which had been previously been sessioned by Robert Venables. This feature was pretty cool, about a 10ft drop and 10ft out I'd say but it had a nice landing which made hitting it nothing more than catching a can of corn off the top shelf at the grocery store. Dobie lined it up first then me and Tom followed suit with only one close call and Dobie hangin' it out big time!

Next up, we crashed into a nice step down hip. I have been pretty amped to hit a jump like this for a long time and was stoked to send it right away. This feature was a right hip with about a 10ft gap across a river with a bit of a drop. A few handfuls of dirt on the lip and she was ready for launch. Once again Dobie showed us how it was done with grace and me and Tom followed up by overshooting. I had a serious moment on the last jump of the day just took er too big and nearly ate dirt but the FOX 40's took it like a champ.

here is a quick vid from the day

Reading Break

Its been a great reading break, Dobes and I have been out shredding almost everyday and the weather has been great. We hit Woodlot, Seymour, Squamish, and then Woodlot again. Its been nice to get a feel for my new Transition TR450 frame that I have built up with parts from my Giant Glory. The bike has been unreal so far and I have really been enjoying it, especially on the steeper stuff. At the Woodlot me and Dobes logged some air miles and the bikes were awesome, nice pop. Here is a video from the day!
